CafeGroup Inc. Forms Capital and Business Alliance with GameGum Inc.

CafeGroup Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Koichi Kishimoto) is pleased to announce that it has made an investment in GameGum Inc. (Headquarters: Sakaiminato City, Tottori Prefecture; Representative Director: Takashi Kuroda; hereinafter “GameGum”) and has entered into a capital and business alliance with the company.

■Investment in GameGum Inc., a Leader in Bringing Japanese IP to Roblox

GameGum is a game-driven IP company that facilitates the global expansion of Japanese brands and IP on the next-generation entertainment platform “Roblox.” To date, the company has collaborated with creators and partners both in Japan and overseas to co-create sustainable growth and monetization, focusing on planning, promotion, content development, and operations. The company has been involved in the development of games based on character content from anime, manga, and movies, including supporting the development of the official game for the film Exit 8 and developing an officially licensed game for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.

This funding round was a pre-seed round led by Hyperion Inc., with participation from Incubate Fund Inc. and our company. As the sole operating company in this round, we will provide medium- to long-term support in the areas of creative production and business development.

■Business Partnership Launched for Large-Scale Joint Game Development on Roblox

In conjunction with this investment, the two companies have entered into a business partnership aimed at the joint development of large-scale games on Roblox. CafeGroup will be responsible for providing creative resources—including 3DCG and animation—as well as business and sales support, while GameGum will handle game planning, development, operation, publishing, and the establishment of development infrastructure.

Through this partnership, both companies will work toward the global expansion of Japanese IP, as well as diversified business initiatives centered around games, such as merchandise sales.
